Wheat Grass and an Outhouse

Saturday, March 7 2009,  9:30-5:30

This event was born in the depths of winter when one's yearning for spring can only be quelled with chocolate. This event is our take on the NW Flower and Garden show. While it will not be as big, it WILL be sweeter. Cowgirl Chocolates, Calamity Jane's Vintage Furniture and Perpetual Pillows will all be selling their wares in our warm light-filled conservatory.

I have always loved the energy gained from attending the NW Flower and Garden Show and thought hey, why don't we do that here? I really wanted to partner with Cowgirl Chocolates for a Valentines Day event, but the weather and drifting snow in the middle of February made this date too risky. Our first Saturday, March 7th felt perfect.
Scotty and I (mostly Scotty) are building a "killer" flower show vignette. hint: it is sooo sweet and sooo Scotty! and involves lots of wheat grass and a reclaimed outhouse.

Local chocolatier, Cowgirl Chocolates will be here. Marilyn produces a line of chocolates with a kick (cayenne pepper). Her Spicy Caramel Sauce over ice cream with raspberries is hands down my favorite dessert.  In addition to being a great entrepreneur she is a incredible  artist.

Calamity Jane's Vintage Furniture. Don't you just love that name? Roxanne is a friend of ours from Spokane.  She has a wicked sense of humor and a great eye.  She will be taking over our metal granary this season filling it with her collection of vintage indoor and outdoor furniture. She is bringing a U-haul's worth down for this event!

My dear friend Carla Wesson started a business this winter,  Perpetual Pillows. With a little encouragement she has put her extraordinary sewing talents to work. Carla's sewing is amazingly meticulous, built to last and beautiful. 2-D doesn't do these pillows justice. You really need to come see, touch and feel.

Your show sounds exactly like my cup-o-tea.

Why-o-why are you so far away?

Love wheat grass, btw. Couldn't find any seed here last year....had to order online.

Hi Charmaine,

I got wheat from my farmer neighbor but
you can buy hard red or soft white wheat at
a whole foods store or co-op in the bulk
